Music at ECA

Posted in School Life

One of the advantages of an ECA education is the music department, with its many opportunities for students to develop their talents. Students have regular music classes, as well as opportunities to perform in musicals and programs. Additionally, lessons in piano, instruments, and voice are available as space and faculty permit.

We have enjoyed great years of music programs, recitals and concerts here at ECA! Thank you to our students and teachers for all the hard work which has made our music department so exciting and effective. Remember that music is really a language that we learn through daily practice and dedication. The language of music is an expression of what is in our hearts. We communicate who we are and what we believe both to God and to those who listen to our music.

In 2012 we performed our 4th musical production "The Pirates of Penzance". We also had one of our best instrument recitals ever and an Elementary musical production of "Fish Tales". Our Middle School and High School choirs and concert band performed at various times and the Honors Choir delegates joined other ACSI schools in Vienna for an incredible weekend of rehearsals and performances.

Special Events

Posted in School Life

Each year ECA students enjoy special events which highlight their skills and interests.

Secondary Camp

All Middle School and High School students go to camp in early September. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other, have a lot of fun in a beautiful rural setting, learn some interesting new skills and worship God together.

Concerts and Programs

Our drama and music departments have provided great entertainment for the ECA community and many of our Spanish neighbors in the surrounding area. This is also a chance to share our faith and commitment to high standards of art and artistry which glorifies God and encourages others.

Ministry Trips and Student Service

Beginning in 2007, every 2 years we have sent a student ministry team to work and share in another culture. In 2014 a team went to Romania. This really challenges students to prepare and plan together, use new skills in a new environment and share their faith through words and actions. Students are also required to complete a certain number of hours each semester in a ministry activity to "put their learning into practice".

Weekly chapel programs

Chapel gives students the opportunity to minister and encourage each other. Each class plans one chapel during the year and many students help with various aspects of chapel all year long while special speakers come to share on exciting and various biblical themes.

Leadership Training

Our student leaders meet regularly through the year to learn about Christian leadership and find ways to apply those concepts in their daily lives. Several students apply each year to attend the ACSI Student Leadership Conference in Budapest, Hungary. It is a joy to see more than 250 students from more than 18 countries come together for 3 days of worship, training and planning to reach their world for Christ.

Honors Choir

Every year choir members may audition to participate in the ACSI all Europe Honors Choir. These events are hosted by various international Christian schools in Europe and utilize a professional choral conductor from the US to rehearse and direct a high quality choir in beautiful European venues.
