A Heart of Gratitude

November 2023

Our vision at ECA is to equip and inspire each student to impact the world for Christ. And one of the ways to impact the world is for the world to see us glorying God. And one of the ways to glorify God is to have a heart full of gratitude. “The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me.” – Psalm 50:23.  It’s so easy to focus on the negative or complain when things don’t go our way. But I’m reminded of how much it means to God for us to have a heart of thanksgiving.  In fact, He gives both positive and negative commands to spur us on to the right attitude. “Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe…” Philippians 2:14-15.  “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 There are so many things I am grateful for at ECA! We are grateful for a record number of students who are part of the ECA student body and who care for each other across grade levels. We are grateful for parents who are supportive and who give of their time in a variety of ways. We are grateful for the staff who spend long hours in preparing or grading and who feel a call to serve here. And we are grateful for the many fun memories and learning experiences we have shared so far in this 51st year of ECA. May our upcoming thanksgiving celebration remind us of our call to have grateful hearts all year.
